Sara Low, with the World Trade Center Visible

I wasn't planning to post again on Sara Low -- for as as said, I didn't know her personally -- but as I was searching the internet for more information about her, I found a site showing exhibits from the Moussaoui case and saw the above photograph, which struck me as poignant.

Another site, The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, also provided this photo and eight others of Sara Low among a total of 440 images of evidence presented in the Moussaoui case. I won't link to these other eight individually, but if you want to search for them, you'll find these eight photos by scrolling about halfway down.

I also discovered that the last recorded information that we have about Sara Low is that on the highjacked American Airlines Flight 11, she gave to another flight attendant, Amy Sweeney, "her father's calling card, which allowed [Sweeney] ... to pretend to be a passenger and use an AirFone to call Logan Airport and relay the vital information."

With that card, Ms. Sweeney reported what she knew and saw, providing valuable information until "the plane suddenly changed course, ... [and] she spoke her last reported words: 'I see water and buildings. Oh my God! Oh my God!'"

And that was the end.

I went to school with Sara and Alyson (her sister). I graduated with Alyson. They were amazing girls.

Thanks, 'Toddler', for posting this. Though I didn't know her personally, Sara Low is obviously a person to remember -- not only for the way that she died but for how she lived, from what I have read about her.

Since you knew Sara Low and her family, then you might know of my brother Tim Hodges, who also knew the Low family, especially Sara Low's father. Tim lived in Batesville at the time and worked at the hospital but has since moved back to our hometown, Salem.

Again, thanks for visiting.

I would have to ask when Tim lived in Batesville. I haven't been around much since 1996. I was around some between 94 and 96, but I was in college between 89-93. Therefore, I probably did not know your brother. If I did, I have forgotten him to which I apologize. I am glad he got to know the Low family. I have lived in Fort Worth, TX since July 1996. My dad told me the news about Sara after the attacks, and I read a lot about it on the internet, especially our local paper. Knowing Sara really gave a face to the attacks. It was also reported to me that another one of our classmates at Batesville (class 89) was in one of the towers but made it out. Who would've thought that a town so small would have a couple of people caught up in the middle of that tragedy? Those events will forever change us. I wrote a small blog about it at one of my sites (toddejones.net/blog) and a longer at another site (http://collegefootballtopten.com/articles/2007/09/for-what-its-worth-some-things-are-more.html). Sorry for the plug. I want to thank you for honoring all of the victim's memory and especially Sara's. God Bless.

Thanks, 'Toddler', again.

My brother was in Batesville for quite some time, but he would have been your parents' generation, perhaps. He graduated from Salem High School in 1977, and I think that he was working in Batesville by the mid-80s to late 90s, but I'm not sure.

Plugging your own website is perfectly acceptable in such a case. In fact, I had already visited them after reading your initial post here.

I'm glad that people take the time to remember. I'll post something in memory every September 11th, so long as I continue to blog.

Thanks again for visiting.

I was with my best friend, who is an American Flight attendant and worked the flight to San Francisco two days before 9/11. I got to know Sara along with several other flight attendants from Boston on that flight. I must say it was my most favourite flight in memory (I fly alot with my friend) as they all were so fun and just plain hospitable to me. I joked with Sara to stop bringing me food (all the crew were filling me up with drink and food)and asked her if she was trying to fatten me up like a Christmas goose! I rode with them all to the Hilton here in SF and later that night met for drinks at Red Room on Sutter. We ate at a little Thai restaurant around the corner. I took several photos of the group and one that haunts me still - Sara looking so beautiful in SF. Sara wanted to go dancing and through much talk and some of the crew being tired, we didn't go but I wish we had now. The following day we all somehow ended up biking in Golden Gate Park, by chance we running into each other at different locations. The day was so beautiful with perfect warmth and sunshine. We ate at Cha-cha's and then headed back to the hotel to get the crew van to SFO and back to Boston. Again the flight was super fun with the crew (in my opinion the best Hub of crew in American) laughing and having great conversations. When we landed at about 7am in Boston, the weather was gorgeous as if San Francisco had come back with us. We were all on the train platform going back to the city. Sara was excited because she had just moved into a new place and her mom was coming up to help decorate it. Sara said she was going home to sleep as she was picking up a flight to LA the next morning for someone else. We all hugged and said we should all get together for drinks soon or on another flight which ever came first.

Sara was one of the most naturally beautiful women I had the greatest fortune to have met, though briefly, and she is permanently etched in my heart. She was a radiant person and we all have been robbed of a very unique, extremely kind young woman.

I lost several flight attendant friends that day and they each are so special in my heart. I wish I had met Sara earlier I know we would have been friends, you just got that feeling when talking to her. Luckily my best friend, who like Sara picked up a flight for someone else, but he ended up getting grounded in Vermont.

We talk about Sara and the others when we fly together, they are always in our thoughts. Thank you for posting this page with regards to Sara! Tracey Alderete

Thank you, Ms. Alderete, for the touching remembrance of Sara Low. I have posted it as a blog entry for February 7, 2009 and hope that you don't mind.
